Had an informal parents evening where they took other members of their families and showed them nursery. Took other two with me. The staff were just stood in shock as tiddler spoke. In the time she has been there she hasn't spoken not even to the other children just said what drink she would like. As soon as she gets out of door she is shouting at other children saying goodbye and usuing their names. In the mornings she waits by the gate and lets people through and even told two parents off today as they didn't say thank you to her. Now know why she got a full time place as it goes mainly on childs needs and if she hasn't spoken and has to be told what to do all the time when they are doing activities is no wonder. Never seen three more shocked people than the staff.

My little girl was the same...........when I first took her for a visit she chatted quite happily to me....but she wouldn't even now converse with adults even her Auntie's and my mum.....

Hi, there was a programme on the telly not so long about selective mutism.(I am not suggesting your daughter has this)It made interesting tv.There was a little girl who never uttered a word but at home only amongst her own family she was a little terror. If a friend of the family turned up she would go quiet. I also had a friend at school who hardly ever spoke and if she did it would be the teacher who she spoke ,it was so quiet ,more like a whispher. Tina

My oldest was like that. Hardly said a word - you almost had to force it out of him when he was asking for something!! Then we went on holiday............ He's never shut up since!!!!
