Hi Here in Lincolnshire we have to have ours in no later than the 24/10. We have just had the 11+ results so are able to put our choices in after we recieved them. I am gutted my son missed by 1 point needed to have 220 he got 219. we are not appealling as the board does not sit until summer 2007 and by then he would miss out on the grammar and his comp choice. He could be sent somewhere in the area miles from home. This is so stressful for the kids and parents alike having to make a choice that will change the childrens life forever. |

Hi Catriona. I didn't realise different parts of the country had different systems. Here we have to put up to 6 choices by tomorrow, but the 11 plus exams are later. We will only know which school we have got when the LEA sends out the letters on 1st March - the grammar schools don't send any results direct to us. Charlotte has her first test on Monday - if she gets through that we will be advised in November and about a week later she will sit the second part. After that she has another 2 tests, one in December and one in January, for another school. Then we have to wait with everyone else until March. I agree with you that it is so stressful. I am trying my best to not pass my worries on to her, but at the same time I have to keep her practising and give her encouragement. It's a fine line. Sorry to hear your son missed out by such a narrow margin. I am convinced that Charlotte too will either JUST pass or JUST miss out. I will be a nervous wreck by March!! Maz. XX |

Hi Jeanette We have no grammar schools at all in our borough, so Charlotte is doing tests for 2 in neighbouring boroughs, as she is doing so well at Primary. Unfortunately we have none of the 'best' performing schools nearby, so we have had to decide which order to put the 2 local (not very good until now) schools in. The (previously) 'worst' school in the borough is now an Academy, new building is due to open this time next year with amazing facilities. Having met the Head and listened to her vision for the next few years, we have taken a leap of faith and made that our preferred local school. Having said all that, I still hope she gets her first choice as that is an amazing school and I know she will just love it there. Maz. XX |

I hope you get the one you want Maz. It's a flippin' nightmare isn't it! Because we're not in the catchment area, we can give up to 3 choices. The one nearest to me is just up the street and I have put it in as a second choice. After talking to some of the Mums, I'm just going to delete it and give only the one I want. If she doesn't get a place then we'll just have to cross that bridge when we get to it! Having said that, everyone that went to Olivia's school from out of the catchment area last year got a place |

Hi Maz All the very best for your daughter. Fingers crossed. Our school never suppored the children or parents our head does not agree with grammar. the Kids had 20 min practice papers the week they broke up from school in July, the exam was the sat. they went back to school on the wed. and the following sat. I had a terrible week that week any way i had i decide whether to have our dog of 14 years put to sleep and my son suffer, or the dog suffer until he had finished the tests. I could not let her suffer and the children see her suffering. I told him do do his best that all i asked. But he did great and i am proud of him anyway. We find out on the 1/3 what school they go to. |
