I'm probably not answering your question (lol!) but if you go into the 'Import/Export' tree section, you can remove your tree but you stay. If you go into the 'Contact Us' section, you can remove yourself from the site. Mandy x

Ask a silly question...........LOL thanks Mandy This is actually quite a serious question as it happens. I have been made aware how lax the security is on this site, hence I am removing my tree. If you notice anything strange happening with your account, report it to GR immediately.

Add your tree to the other site.

Could someone please tell me what strange things happening I should be looking out for? I keep seeing all these hints on threads about security etc and am starting to panic but I haven't a clue what it all means. HELP!! Chrissie x

I've Just got mine up and running on FTM Jilly that's why I'm not bothered about removing it. I go into Tree Matches once a week to check for connections. So i might just add a few surnames that I want to find links with

Oh! No need to add any surnames cos they're all still there Isn't this the same problem Grampa Jim had?

No bl**dy wonder........my tree is still here!

Jeanette I don't think it happens immediately. Like most things on GR, there's a time lag ;) If you import or export, it always takes a while for them to do it, so I imagine it's the same with deleting your tree. Mandy x

Think you're right Mandy. Just done it again and it's still awaiting deletion. Something odd has just happened.......will start another thread

I would also add, if you decide to remove your tree, get it sent to you first in a gedcom, if you dont have a family tree program on your computer. You will want to keep it in some form or other. If you dont have a family tree program - FTM2005 is currently being sold for £5.99 at Morrisons including 1 months ancestry sub. Or download a freebie like PAF from the familysearch.org site.
