Hi All Our daughter Diana is getting married on 2nd December. She has arranged for a disco in the evening, and there is a spot for a father/daughter dance. Any ideas for an appropriate song? Not too energtic as my OH has back problems. PP xx |

Only one I can think of at the mo is 'Something Stupid', because it's sung by father/daughter Frank & Nancy Sinatra! Angela |

Hi PP, Some great songs on this site and you can listen to a bit of them before desiding which you want. http://www.wedalert.*com/songs/fatherdaughter/index.asp The one 'Daddy' is nice but I think I would be in tears if that was playing whilst my daughter and her dad were dancing. |

Hi Fiona Thanks for the website info. Just been there and OH has decided on 'Can you feel the love tonight' by Elton John. Think I may have to have a huge box of tissues for the day :-) Thanks for the input folks. PP xx |

I don't know the name of the song but someone reading will know it but the song is a story of a child growing up to an adult, and has the phrase 'turn around, turn around' as she gets older as the song progresses. I love unchained melodies which is a parting of two people and one has to let go. lol |

These are the lyrics for the Paul Simon song 'Father and Daughter':- If you leap awake In the mirror of a bad dream And for a fraction of a second You can't remember where you are Just open your window And follow your memory upstream To the meadow in the mountain Where we counted every falling star I believe the light that shines on you Will shine on you forever And though I can't guarantee There's nothing scary hiding under your bed I’m gonna stand guard Like a postcard of a Golden Retriever And never leave till I leave you With a sweet dream in your head I'm gonna watch you shine Gonna watch you grow Gonna paint a sign So you'll always know As long as one and one is two There could never be a father Who loved his daughter more than I love you Trust your intuition It's just like going fishing You cast your line And hope you'll get a bite But you don't need to waste your time Worrying about the market place Try to help the human race Struggling to survive its harshest night I'm gonna watch you shine Gonna watch you grow Gonna paint a sign So you'll always know As long as one and one is two There could never be a father Who loved his daughter more than I love you I'm gonna watch you shine Gonna watch you grow Gonna paint a sign So you'll always know As long as one and one is two There could never be a father Who loved his daughter more than I love you Kath. x |

Hi Kathleen Thanks for that. You may have just solved a problem for a reading during the ceremony. It's a civil wedding, and there are spaces for readings in it. PP xx |

Hi, there is a lovely song in the musical 'Aspects of Love' that a man sings to his daughter. It goes something like 'I want to be the first man that you dance with' and my husband said it brought tears to his eyes thinking of how he loves our daughter. It would make a great song for a wedding. |
