joyce i ran farepak for 20 years .last year was the first year i didnt bother. what a shame.they were the best hamper company around. they really helped us out when the kids were tiny, saved me scraping the money together to fill the cupboards. susie

bit dated now this hamper business, it was big business years ago in the 70's, remember me mam getting one saved all year for about 15 tins of ham. Another small firm competing against the supermarkets no doubt. Feel for people though if you not gonna get your money back. catherine xx

hi catherine its often the only way some young families can afford christmas. it was a life line to me when my children were tiny. the frozen food used to last until march lol. it was the only time my freezer was full. when my children started families they ordered from me aswell. there was no way they could afford to splash out £200 in one go on food. susie

Oh! how horrid for you. When my family were young I paid into one like that. at the begining of Dec. it was delivered, enough to fill my freezer for the Winter. I still remember what a help it was when money was short.

How awful for the poor people who's Christmas will now be in ruins. Hampers are the only way that many families can afford the cost of all the extras that Christmas brings. When my children were young I relied on my hamper as did a lot of my friends. I am more fortunate now and don't have to spread the cost, as I once did. I don't envy you the job of explaining to your customers. Beryl x

I know loads of families that rely on the hampers to keep them going during the long month of january. Infact i often look at the catologues and say next year i ll do it - thankgod i didnt this year!!!!

My family have lost a total of £1600, my daughter who is a single mum has lost £300 , my step daughter has lost £1100 and can't stop crying and is in a terrible state she has 8 children and 2 grandchildren, and her daughter has lost £200. I have just been listening to the news and things dont look good about getting any money back and what they may get back wont be for some time, it is just so sad. Hope something can be done to save Christmas for all these families effected by this. Pam

Read about it in paper and thought 'Thank God Ive not got one' because a couple of years ago I had one. Everything was ok then, but after the recent revelations, I feel so sorry for everyone who'll lose their money, especially if theyre not a high-income family. So glad I decided not to do it this year; with hubby being made redundant, we couldnt afford to lose the money.
