Since my son was born, I havent been able to relax at all, I almost feel scared sometimes, mostly at evening/night. Thought of taking pills, but with 3 children, I cant afford to be drowsy or have side effects. |

Anxiety is very common and very scary. Do go and see your doctor as there may be something s/he can do to alleviate your symptoms. Having said that, I don't think I knew what worry was till I had children! |

You are no different to millions of other proud mothers My Lady. It will always be my greatest regret that I was rarely there to help my wife cope with three children of less than five years old. But she coped.................. and so will you. For that is what life demands of a caring mother. And I can assure you that your dedication will some day be richly rewarded. A woman's body goes through a million and one changes before, during and after the birth of her child. There is absolutely no reason why you should not take beneficial medication during any of those stages. Be not afraid to pop those pills My Lady, for they may give you greater comfort than any Physician could envisage. Just be sure to retain control in your own mind of that which matters to you most. I have never been one to do 'hugs' My Lady.............. but you have my very bestest wishes. L |

hi rebekah, before taking st johns wort, i would suggest you have a word with your doctor, as not enough research has been done on this herbal remedy. bach rescue, is completely harmless, a few drops in a small bottle of mineral water, sipped all day, will take the edge off anxiety... available at chemists, and health stores. bryan. |

First off, you don't sound at all deranged so forget that worry!! Bach's Rescue Remedy is good and you can take as much or as little as you need, ask at a Health food store. You don't even need to take it in water, you can just add a few drops to your tongue. Another thing to help calm anxiety is Passiflora and Ativa drops, which you take in water morning and night, and you can get those at some Health food stores, but I am not sure H & B sell them, certainly others do. Do speak to your Health Visitor or Doctor again tho, cos even tho your little one is 8 months old, you might still be suffering a bit of p.n. depression and why not get some help from them, you are not a failure as a mother, more you are being sensible in getting yourself sorted. It is natural to feel anxious but it is when it starts to affect you badly that it needs attention. Also try and make sure you have a little bit of me time, mums need tlc as well as children so talk again to your husband and see if he will be a little more supportive. Good luck, there is always someone around on here to talk to if you need to. Liz |
