Thanks Elaine & Beryl. Guess I will just have to keep hoping for the missing responses. It would be nice to know one way or another though. Happy hunting! Maureen. |

Hi Maureen, Unfortunately at the present time there is now way of knowing if your message has been read. According to Genes they are aware that this is not suitable and are trying to work something out! Hope this helps. Beryl x |

You wont know im afraid Only if you get a reply, People may be offline or unable to access the site for a number of reasons, pooter breaking, internet connection lapse, holiday , joining the site then forgetting about the site, or just plain ignoring of the mails Dont give up though, I once waited almost a year for a reply, the bloke had given up his tree in favour of work and just had not checked his messages Elaine x |

Hi Elaine & Peter Many thanks for your help - have now managed to add my Trying to find message. Maybe I'm too old for this lark! As you have been so helpful please may I ask another favour. Do you know the answer to the FAQ 'How do I know that my message (to another GR member) has been read?' Yours hopefully Maureen. |

Maureen, The Help / FAQs seem ok for me at the moment. Do make sure your Browser temp files / cache is cleared down regularly though, as this site can be a bit fussy.and refuse to load the next page. This is the FAQ for 'Trying to find' How do I add a name to the Trying to Find board? Each surname has its own Trying to Find board and all the messages from each of the name boards will also appear on the main Trying To Find Board. You can add an entry to the Trying To Find Board from the My Tree Matches part of the site. You do need to make sure that there is a relation on your family tree that has the same surname as the person you wish to leave a message about. Click on ‘My Tree Matches', then on the surname you are interested in. Click on the ‘View Entire Site’ button. You will then see the message boards available, including the number of entries already entered on each board. Select the Trying To Find Board or the board you wish to use then click on 'If you wish to add to our Trying To Find Board then click here.' |

If the person is not in your name list eg: the surname you cannot add to the trying to find board. Go to your tree maker Add the name you want on trying to find board to your tree save it go to trying to find board, follow instructions it will take you to your names on the same line as your name which you want to use, there will be trying to find, click on that and add your message. that done, you've added your message to the trying to find board. Go back to your tree and delete that name (unless you want it in your tree. You can access your entry by searching for the name on the trying to find board Elaine x |

Is it just me? When I click on an FAQ the next screen just repeats the question - not an answer. This happens no matter what FAQ I select. Also I am trying to send a 'Trying to find' message. The screen instructs me to go to my names but does not let me send a message. Have only been a member of GR for a month but have aged about 10 years in that time! On the bright side though have received tremendous help from Susan in Australia and Caroline. Think I am definitely related to Caroline and very likely to Sue. Nice to have such helpful kin. Thank you again. Maureen. |
