i am a bit unsure as what to do regards my tree,i have found that my grandads mother and also her father etc have a diffrent spelling of the surname that we have now. i was born newbold, but on my grandads birth cert its spelt newbald.also his grandfather was spelt newbald (on family search and census)so should i change there surname to how it was spelt back then hope this makes sense
