I had an opticians appt this morning, get called two yearly. This time had the owner of the opticians, a smallish local one, very good, been going there twelve years now. he remarked hhow my glasses were not at all scratched (plastic lenses), tested my eyes, did the glaucoma check and looked into my eyes. Said to me 'know what I am going to do?' I said no (as you do). his reply 'absolutely nothing, you don't need new glasses this time! Given that it is him who gets the profit I was amazed. And very impresed. bet the larger firms wouldn't have said that! Ann Glos

Hi Ann I agree some larger firms wouldnt but then thinking about it....they couldnt lie that you needed new glasses because on your eye test booklet you could just compare the sight test with your last one to see if you needed new glasses or not. I use specsavers for my glasses and contact lenses....and when i had my glasses eye test they said my eyes had actually improved after my pregnancy with my daughter!!

Last time I had my eyes tested, (by large optical chain) they said my eyes had only very slightly changed, it was up to me whether I wanted new glasses. Went again last month, my eyes had changed a bit more so ordered new ones, as the optician said they wouldn't change much from now on I ordered the Dior pair that I really fancied as I figured they should last me for the rest of my life.LOL Sunny R

Yes you do think there last you ages. Mine never did after looking after my horse and my mums horses. Then I bought some of them memoflex ones that bend every which way they have lasted me a couple of years now and still going strong but im going to buy these lovely stylish 'Red or Dead' specs before the wedding next year.
