A 64 year old Turkish woman gave birth this week to a healthy baby boy. The baby was delivered by Cesarian section at a private German hospital. The woman and her 62 year old husband had been trying to have a child for 35 years. The couple used in vitro fertalisation. She is the second eldest woman on record to have a baby. I know that the situation is non of anyones business, but what do you think? I want to know where she will get the energy from to keep up with the baby. Deb |

Thank Heaven most dont give birth after early 40s !! if the trend is to increase the trend to 60s I will give up genealogy ! Bad enough looking for births at the moment. More seriously I understand the need but at 60 !!! chances are the husband will not see the child through to adulthood (21) and I can't imagine the mother doing th school run daily or try to keep up with the modern fads that a child may need. and in the meantime TV is showing at the moment (behind me) births in France where women are going to have their babies in the stand position rather than laying down. Must be one of those nights !! |

LOL Joe! I'm exhausted for her already! Having tried for over 5 years to get pregnant, I'm sure this baby will be the most wanted on the planet :)) Deb |

Good luck to them, each to their own.....I certainly couldn't or wouldn't do it, but I am sure that they would have thought things through and after 35 years of trying certainly baby will be extremely well loved. Don't forget that the new 60 is the old 40 and hopefully they have provisions arranged for baby if they become ill or something. |

Hi Deb, I think the are a very wealthy couple so may have help (nannie) or something to help look after the baby. Betty |

64!?!?! hope they realise that they'll be mid 80's by the time the boy is 21! They are unlikely to see him far into adult hood and almost certianly will not see grandchildren. G_d help their decendents! can just imagine them saying 'can't find my gggg....gggGrandparents marriage or birth - opps their they are over 60 yrs before their child was born! urg that can't be right - can it?' All the same good luck to them and I hope thay are blessed with very long healthy lives - I don't envy the sleepless nights, the nappies, frequent feeds (either bottled or breast), the expence and i'm only 23! |

The new 60 may be the old 40 but this doesn't apply to a woman's eggs so it's obviously a donor situation. Personally I think going against nature is very questionable. |
