She died on 13 Oct 2005 of cancer and a brain tumour, after suffering for a long time. I wish so much I could phone her and send her photos of the kids. I live quite a distance from where she lived, so didnt see her much (probably 3 times a year, a bit more during her last 2 years). I havent even deleted her number from my phone. |

I never had a grandmother I could be close to - my mum's mum died when mum was just 16 and her dad died a few months before I was born. My dad's father died a long time before I arrived, and my grandmother lived a way away from us so I only saw her a few times in my life and I was a bit scared of her cos I never really got to know her. All I really remember is when she did come to stay, she rolled my very straight hair in rag curls and it was so tight it hurt, so I made my mum loosen them. I was obviously a disappointment to her with my fine straight hair!!! |

Grandparents are very special people... My Nan died last week, aged 97, her funeral was a couple of days ago but I take strength in the knowledge that she had a fabulous life and we had great fun together. I have made it a choice to remember the people no longer with me as if they are still around, as i am sure that they are somewhere, so then I don't get sad, just smile at the memories. Sal x |
