Anybody else watching Patricia Hewitt on This Morning telling us how they are spending So much more on the NHS and employing SO many more staff?? The look of contempt on Fern's face says it all !!! **Wonders why my local hospital is making 500 nurses redundant** |

They need to get rid of the nurses to make way for more managers. It's all about priorities. Bob |

But Joan if they get rid of three nurses and set on one manager for slightly less they can then say they have cut costs and reduced staff !! Patients what are they? They only take up bed space! :))) Bob |

Wasn't being serious Joan ! I think it's disgrace. I read somewhere that there is an administrator for every bed in the NHS. The hospitals should be managed by staff committees from all levels. Managers are never going to sack themselves. Bob |

Our nearest Hospital,The Conquest, was built 20 years ago,on the outskirts of Hastings, replacing 3 smaller hospitals & a Maternity Home scattered round the town. A General Manager was employed to see how NHS expences could be cut in Sussex. She was responsible for the amalgamation of Brighton/Eastbrne/Hastings hospitals into oneTrust. She was then made redundant & given a very large payout. The next thing was the announcement that Eastbrne & Hastings only needed 1 Emergency dept & 1 Maternity dept between them. Her payout would have kept all existing dept. open for some time. How can the NHS be getting better, when pregnant mums are expected to travel longer distances & when they have their babies to be in a Town to far away for family + friends to have a quick visit daily. If my mother had been taken over to Eastbourne, when she had her stroke, rather than a half hour journey to Hastings, in would be at least an hour each way. With visiting being 2.30 -8 on most wards, those people working till 6 would be hard pressed to be able to visit for an hour each evening. By evening, having been woken at 6am, my mother is very tired & does not want visiters. Sorry if I have gone on a bit but I am not happy with the way we are being treated by our local NHS. I do know that we are lucky to have a local Hospital, but surely there should be more built, not closures.. |

I personaly do not think it makes any difference which political party is in office. Our MP's do not have the same worries that we have, as are able to afford to go private. They are paid well, unlike the majority of us. If instead of bickering between themselves, finding fault with everything any of the other parties suggest & taking long breaks, our House of Commons was to get on with the job they are being paid to do, changes that are good for everyone could be discussed. |

I took my dog to the vets yesterday morning, just a booster shot. In the afternoon I went to visit my 82 year old Mother in Hospital. My dog received more care & attention in the 5 minutes that we were in the vet's surgery that my Mother did in the 2 hours that we were with her. Twice nurses came to the bed and marked things on her chart, not a word from either of them. How long would it take to just acknowledge that Mum was there....? Yes I know, when you leave the vets you get a bill, but how much have my Parent's paid in over the years for receiving 'care' now? |
