I see the claws still come out here at Genes then!! Quite surprised at the vehemence with which some of you rip in to someone none of us genuinely qualified to comment about *raises eyebrows* I must be happy with who I am ;~) OK so she's posh, she can't help the family she was born into. I'm not a fan of her cooking shows, so I don't watch her.... doesn't mean I'm going to slag her off for being born! I thinks the men love her because she's womanly and in fact very good looking in a handsome way. She's the image of her mother, who was stunning. I found the Jewish trail very interesting. It's good they way they've covered a variety of different types of trees in this series. How's that for a difference of oppinion? XXX Sioux

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 12 Oct 2006 07:58

I've never encountered her before, I never watch cooking programmes. I think she is beautiful with the shape of a real woman. I also thought she seemed a bit shy and reserved, rather than snobbish. I found the programme very interesting - unlike a lot of people I enjoy the social history side of the latest series. Every week I am astounded at how little I know about so many things. I think her embarrassment at discovering a thief in the family was quite natural for a beginner in family history. I was mortified early on in my research to discover newpapers reports about my gt gt grandfather's drunkenness and appearances in court. By the time I discovered my thieves and the murderer I was hardened to the possibilities and happy to find something I could research further. Gwynne

My hubby said he didn't realise that she was Nigel Lawson's daughter. You would have thought that her name would have given him a clue wouldn't you??

Didn't see it all (phone rang) but I larfed - many moons ago I worked for the Joe Lyons Empire, and we used to go through the kitchens of the Strand Palace Hotel (which they owned) to our dining room. The kitchens were fiiiiiiiiilthy - running with rats and cockroaches. She's got nothing to be so grand about, I can tell you. OC

Her backside seems to irritate our ladies. Will make an inspection tomorrow when I view the recording, and make an assessment. From what I have previously seen on the box, her frontal aspect seems ok. len

If he hadn't been a thief, he wouldn't have fled to England & she wouldn't be here today! btw, is that really her on the M & S advert. Voice so irritating that it puts me off buying 'M & S Food'!! Angela

To be honest, she seemed mortified at having a thief for an ancestor. Unlike us lot on here who would love to find a skeleton in our cupboards lol. If it were my family I would be proud that they had pulled themselve up out of that lifestyle and made something of themselves. She seemed to think they had always been born with silver spoons.

I'm glad you said that Strump - its not the accent that gets me, its the whole attitude.....and I really cannot explain myself here.... I watched a couple of her food programmes, and quite frankly, would have happily slapped her with kipper.......needless to say my husband thinks she is marvellous.... the other one I have a problem with is the advert for Marks and Sparks food.....you know......she says, this is not just ordinary jelly, its a specially modified, artificially coloured, full of E numbers, extra wobbly jelly from M & Sp........ugh......
