Has anyone stayed at the above resort and if so what was it like, and would you recommend it for a relaxing holiday with a nice beach within walking distance of most places? All I want is a nice restful place to stay with good restaurants and a nice beach close by, but have read somewhere that this beach can be windy. Is it noisy from the planes overhead as not that far from the airport (it is the 'stop' before Puerto del Carmen and down as 10 mins from airport). Would be visiting early November. Liz

Dave, that is what we did when we stayed at Fuerterventura, we were at Nuevo Horizonte, near Calete de Fuste, horrible place, had to walk or bus to C de F as no beach near us. Went around on the buses up to Corralejo - wouldn't mind staying there but liked the sound of the place I am querying , says it is quiet and peaceful. Did a trip to Lanzarote and went round the island and to the Timanfaya National Park, that was really something.

Hi Liz, I stayed there about 7 years ago. We stayed in Hyde Park Lane apartments. Beach is lovely but it was quite windy when we were there. Aiprort is quite close but the planes come in from over the sea and in the wrong direction so it never borthered us. If you walk right up the other end of the resort I think it's called Matagorda there is a hotel that is right next to the airport and I swear that the people in the plane can see you on your balconey. So try to go the Peurto Del Carmen end of Pocillos. Lots of restaurants where we were. It's hard to recommend somebody as we all have different tastes but we enjoyed our week. Linda

I would be inclined to look for somewhere in Costa Teguise which has a very good beach and plenty of restaurants and is not as hectic as the Puerto Del Carmen area, although is a taxi ride (17 euros approx) from the airport. Lanzarote is often windy but the Playa Honda area is more windy than most, we have only called in there, not stayed but we could hear the aircraft. I suspect you would get used to it. If you want somewhere, clean, basic and reasonably cheap, the Scirocco in C Teguise is OK. Daughter stays there quite a bit and we spent a week there. But don't go for all inclusive, the food i better in the centre of C Teguise. ann Glos

Liz,My daughter has a villa in Yaiza.About 10 mins in a car from Peurto Del Carmen. My grandchildren used to go to school there in Carmen.Nice beach though.Very busy and lively. We go to Playa Blanca.Costa Teguise i would recommend. It is windy but sometimes you do need it.I used to go 3 times a year but daughter moved back here and put her villa out on long let.I really miss the place.Anything more you want to know i will ask my daughter. Annie, do you mean Playa Blanca or Costa Teguise? Think they are two different places, Playa Blanca being South of Yaiza (what is the proper pronunciation of that? Is it Yaissa?) and the airport and Costa Teguise North of the airport. We stay at Costa Teguise for 2 or 3 weeks (next year in Feb/March 4 weeks) twice a year. Ann Glos

Annie, where do you eat in C Teguise? We like La Chiminea and Terrezas in the centre, also Beijing Chinese and occasionally the Mexican. Like the French restaurant that begins with M and can't remember the name as well. Ann Glos

I stayed in the resort about 4 years ago, went in febuary. Nice beach, wasnt windy when i was there. Very small resort, not much to do, but it was pleasant. No aircraft noise even though you are close to the airport. we all have different tastes, the hotel I stayed in was fab, but i cant remeber the name of it so thats not much use to you. Personally I wouldnt go again, but it was a nice holiday.

Thanks everyone - the Hyde Park apts were the ones I was looking at. Went to Fuerterventura one year around the same time, and it was windy, well the name F means windy place or something, I can't remember exactly. So long as there is sun to laze around in sometimes, to warm my bones ready for winter in Norfolk, I will be happy. Was warm enough for that in F. and on our day trip to Lanzarote so will show o.h. today and see if he is ready to book, have to hurry up now as less than 4 weeks away. Liz LInda, thanks for nudging for me.

If you google hoilidaytruths Lanzarote you will get a lot on there. i have been a few times to Lanzarote. I would say it was cleaner, smaller and can be windy.Which is good in the hot season. Never beeen in november but last time was April this year and i wore a jumper in am and pm's. All I ever do on a beach is walk along it. We walked along to the airport. Marion cleaner and smaller than Tenerife.
