Paul, Very well done and congratulations! Since no-one else has managed to say 'I got that e-mail too' I would suggest to the sceptics maybe it HAS actually been chosen! Even so, what a tremendous thought that in generations to come genealogists will have Mr Dumpling as their source of information. Good on yer!!

When will people learn..... Being Baptised by the Church of LDS, doesn't force the dead into joining the Mormon faith, nor does it say that their religions is the wrong one. 'Baptised' is the wrong word in my opinion. It's just a way of recognising the dead, and worshipping them. Just like many other religions do..This is just the LDS's version of the same thing. They recognise them due to the fact that without them, you wouldn't be here. It DOES NOT force them into becoming Mormon....

I have no idea if it is the same thing but I found some of my ancestors listed in a Mormon sealing of the dead. Unfortunately there is another family of the same name from the same Somerset village listed in a mormon history of Wales (they were coalminers) and they seem to have borrowed some of mine as well. I thought it was a bit creepy. I know they are buried in Somerset and it is only the records in Salt lake city.

Yes they will be baptised into the church of LDS. But that doesnt make them Mormon. It's basically just a way of 'worshipping the dead', in my opinion. Different religions have different ways of worshipping the dead. And this is just the LDS's way of doing it.

MM, I thought that too, but apparently not. All submitted trees are put onto file, on computer, and they go through them all.

Joy Report 11 Oct 2006 09:30

That's interesting … because I was under the impression that all submitted trees were stored there.

Good Morning Paul ! I think that I am right in saying that all your ancestors will now be posthumously baptized into the Church of the Latter Day Saints - please anybody correct me if I am wrong.

Guys, It's what the LDS do ... suggest rather than me starting a religious debate here, that you look into the basis of the religion. Annie

Just read a bit more about it. Apparently my tree will be put onto Microfilm, and stored, and then be ready for distribution after i've snuffed it. :-p

Hi Paul, We they have decided your tree if worth keeping for a very long time then. Whatever the reason, isn't it great to think in years to come all your rellies will find out about you family because of the very special family tree you made. Betty

Nothing interesting about the people on my tree, they're all mostly ag labs, or shoe makers.

Paul Report 10 Oct 2006 11:13

Hi, I have no idea what makes my tree so special. But it said in the email, that they have had experts check my tree, and they had chosen it from 1000's. I know i'm not the only one, but obviously they were impressed! Yes, anyone can enter their tree to the LDS, on the LDS website.
