Had radio on at work yesterday but was not listening. My chef was saying that you can claim some of your bank charges back and go back 6 years if you have been overcharged. How would you know if you have been overcharged? Annie

Would be interested to read this info too, as I sometimes get charges that I think are extortionate and by the time you see the charges on the statement, you are getting another charge for a problem caused by the original charge. I have tried for 9 months to put my bank account on line and it won't work, I have rung the helpline and gone through it step by step and still nothing, they told me a lot of people have the same problem - it is the Halifax account - and even one of their employees told me he can't get his on line either so I can't check it easily, unless I use the phone banking which takes ages.

heard a part of it, one lady went into the danger zone by one ''p''. cost her the penalty charge.. And I think it was the purchase of a bag of carrots, that did it. Verry expensive bag of carrots Bob

I can only go over £5 a month as i have no overdraft.Last month i went over £7.Then the bank charged me £30 for that. This month forgetting the £30 they were charging me went just over again as they took the £30 and because they paid 3 direct debits one for £4 one for £5 and one for £10 i got charged £30 each so i have now got to pay £90 next month. Hi Purple Poinsettia, I am with the Halifax too, I went into the bank and asked an assistant to show me what to do on their computer. I had previously phoned Halifax to send me out a Password and the assistant and I managed to do the whole thing there on the computer. I noted everything down step by step and did it at home, no probelm. I wonder why some people can't access their own bank account online. Betty

Betty have been in and they couldn't do it for me, also I have gone through step by step with the helpline people and one chap told me they often have people who cannot access the thing, it is something to do with what security things are on this computer. Have to sit down with o.h another night and try a special site first apparently.
