No worries, I thought, I'm all taxed, insured and MOT'd. Only to be told they couldn't find arecord of my insurance. I said I'd renewed it around May or June. After a lot of phone calls it turned out that my credit card payment had been declined on a technicality and I'd never received notification that they hadn't got a cleared payment. So, unless I decide to go to court and persuade the magistrates that I honestly though I was covered it's £200 fine and six points. I am not a happy bunny!

Brian I would have thought you would have sussed out something was wrong when you did,nt recieve a new Certificate of Insurance, But have a go at your Insurers, they should have told you your card was in-valid and you were no longer covered, Hope it works out OK for you, Hal.

I managed to get a letter of indemnity out of my insurers and sent it off the the Metropolitan Police. Received a reply yesterday to say they would withdraw the fixed penalty. Boy: am I relieved.

Glad you sorted it! I heard of a friend of a friends Father in law who had a similar situation but with his HOUSE and it wasn't pretty as the house BURNT DOWN and the insurance hadn't been renewed automatically like it normally is each year!! Never did hear the final outcome Diana x
