I am a Caring Carer, I support four ladies with learning difficluties, hard but rewarding. Keep up the good work Carer;s-love to you all Jennifer.

I also found out last week that if you have a child who is disabled and still at school at the age of 16 then they are entitled to claim incapacity benefit asthey can't work. Many mums in my daughters school who have children over 16 did not find out about this till they were nearly 18 as its not advertised any where and they don't dish out this sort of information to us carers. Great idea.
Sometimes you just need someone who is sympathetic but not connected to you so you can talk without upsetting those closest to you. After some years of caring for my late mother I know how hard it can be. She had Parkinson's and received attendance allowance but not much practical assistance really.
I think there is a bit more now in terms of adapting bathrooms etc and providing adequate heating (from what I have heard recently from some elderly acquaintances) .One has managed to get an automatic arm chair, the type that raises you up which would have been a godsend so my advice is ask, and keep asking till you get any help that is available.

What a great idea, i find the school holidays a bind sometimes, all my friends have children at home so I dont like to call them and go on. When Im having a bad day with my daughter just to get it out would be a relief

i look after my mum,and work as well,i feel better knowing its me doing it ,than a stranger.i cook all her meals and clean up,take her to get her pension.but shes always been a lovely mum,so its nice to give something back,xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

nadia i am a home carer.i absolutely love my job. ive been doing it for 16yrs now. im so sorry about the bad experience that you had with carers. i work for buckinghamshire county council social services department.we are vetted by the police every year and have extensive training courses that are mandatory. im sure you will love your job hun. and well done for looking after your mum. susie
