I admit I,m a bit cracked, but I always carry a packet of polo mints and offer one to any animal I come across. They are eaten about three or four times in five. Also carry extra strong, mainly for myself, but few creatures will give them the time of day. Anyone else have experience of animals and mints? Happy days |

Going to cry. Looks like I,m the only daft person on line. When I,m on the way to golf I pass a field full of horses. Always stop when it,s raining and feed them. They love polo mints (never tried tic-tacs) Thanks for the replies Happy days |

The squirrels in our local cemetery love extra strong mints, one winter one came right up to me and begged for one, bent down and offered him one, he came up and took it off me so nicely and sat and munched on it. Mind you it was really cold and he was probably starving but I bet that really warmed him up. Would have made a great advert for them!! Kath |

Harry, my boy dog can smell mints from a mile off. He is potty about extra strong mints and toothpaste, howls when you brush your teeth. My little girl dog goes crazy if she smells cherry menthol tunes. |

I knew there was something seriously wrong with my 15 yr old dog when she refused a polo mint, she absolutely adored them. Took her to the vets and he had to put her to sleep, she was nearly 16, a good age. Bless her. She once, under the table unzipped my handbag and helped herself to a whole packet, she also took a packet out of my friend's handbag and ate the lot. I miss her. Sunny R |

Harry, you do realise that giving these mints to the animals( kind as it is) adds to the problem of the 'Holes in the Ozone Layer'. Hal.:o))))))> |

Harry I had a horse for twenty years and she got thru bucket loads of polo mints, in fact mints of any shape and size and make!!. I havent bought any since she died in 2000. My first dog also ate polo mints, it was one for the horse and one for the dog but my border collie I have now hates the smell of mints and visibly shies away if you offer him one. Funny that cos he eats everything else!! Marilyn |

Harry, it was during the summer holiday which I spent feeding polomints to wasps and watching them feast (one polomint goes a looong way) that I decided to get a life and do my family history instead! |
