Sadly I suppose there could be more like this now. As pensions have to be paid into bank accounts now - direct debits pay bills - no one need notice!!! :-( Surely though you would notice if you didn't hear or see your neighbours after maybe a couple of weeks but 6 years!!!

that is what i thought.how can you klnow that someone lives in the flat and not notice when you haven't seen them for a while.it's awfulxxxxxx):

As awful as it is, I do wonder why the smell was not noticed by the other people living in the building? After about 3 weeks or so the stench must have been unbearable and after 6 years I assume that the date of death must have been established by means of pensions uncollected, rent owing etc. Why has it taken so long to find him? another case of society not giving a monkey's about any one else? That's so sad...did he own the flat..?..he must have or someone would have found him before, surley...the place must have been rancid....did no-one notice a smell or flies ..the mind boggles...i hope he had a proper funeral

local authorities apoligised last night over the death of a a man who lain undiscovered in his flat for six years.the man's body was found last year when a neighbours grandsone decided to check.the man who was described as aloner did in 1998 but lay undiscovered until 6 years later in the flat.that poor man was not missed,no one even cared to know.,six christmasses without being noticed that he was missing.i am crying my eyes out now.it is a sad state of affairs when no one notices your not therexxxxx):
