Gillian, As a further thought. I had a similar situation. My great grandfather was illegitamate. I eventualy found the baptism under his mothers name. Even though he was described as the son of my GG grandfather in the census'. Further I have no evidence of the marriage of his parents, despite being listed as husband and wife in every census. I have had to assume the fatherhood rather than just 'adopting'. Bob |

It is quite a common name in the area Shenton. I know he's right but i just keep getting this feeling the arn't his parents but how can you find out something like that you can't there was no adoption he could be next doors child they just took in |

If his father's details tie up between the mariage certificate and the census returns I would carry on. Is it an unusual name or could there be an number of individuals? If either name is uncommon then the certainty level would be enhanced. Bob |

Gillian, I think it is really up to you. I have my grandmother's marriage and her death but not her birth yet as she was born in Ireland but I am 99% sure I have the correct other info so i'm carring on. If I am wrong then tuff on me and I will just have to start again. Margaret |

I personally would carry on if you are sure that you have the right family on the census..... only danger is it could be completely useless if you haven't got it right!! |
