Surely he has just brought the announcment foward. Up to now he has been saying he had not decided on the date of an election. By saying the announcment has now been delayed he is saying the election will be on May 5. The only delay is in the procedure. Another case of annoncing to the press rather than to Parliament. I would argue that no comment was required, all he had to do was go to the Queen on Tuesday rather than Monday with no further comment. Bob |

If anything the Popes death 6 days before the wedding has added yet another dampener to the run up of this date. |
