I think he is showing respect and thought for others. So many people will be pre-occupied for the next few days in their grief. Had Tony gone ahead he would have been criticised for not showing respect. Jacky

Surely he has just brought the announcment foward. Up to now he has been saying he had not decided on the date of an election. By saying the announcment has now been delayed he is saying the election will be on May 5. The only delay is in the procedure. Another case of annoncing to the press rather than to Parliament. I would argue that no comment was required, all he had to do was go to the Queen on Tuesday rather than Monday with no further comment. Bob

If anything the Popes death 6 days before the wedding has added yet another dampener to the run up of this date.
