Without doubt they would have prefered to get married without any publicity as they would also choose to live their lives 'out of the spot light' given the choice. As for Camilla playing a major role in the collapse of the marriage, the fact is, that Charles never loved her anyway. |

Hi Gwynne - the done deed would have pre-empted any of this nonsense - sloped off to Switzerland or somewhere, quick ceremony in the Embassy and Bob's your Uncle so to speak. Could have spent the rest of their lives (and the'~Dutchy of Cornwall's money) travelling the world, seeing the sights etc. I truely believe that Charles has lost his marbles, or else he needs to change his advisors. He's lost touch with the public, much the same way as Tony Blair has - Gawd help us all!!! Ja\cqui |

Hi Jaqui, We'll have to agree to differ about what broke up the marriage of Charles and Diana. I think they would have prefered to have married quietly but can you imagine the tabloids letting them? Gwynne |

Gwynne- the legality of the marriage is not in question; I personally think that they should marry, rather than living 'in sin' - sorry for the antiquated phrase but could think of no other at the moment. What I object to is the publicity attached to the wedding and the fact that the woman who seemingly played a major part in the downfall of Charles and Diana's marriage now receiving such a 'starring part' in the latest production. The decent thing would have been to slope off abroad somewhere, done the deed and stayed put. I personally think that Charles is likely to be the 'death knoll' of the monarchy in this country. If Camilla marries Charles she will be Princess of Wales. I didn't have much time for the last one and don't care much about this one either. But it isn't anybody's business but theirs. They are legally entitled to marry. Gwynne |

Is it just me, or do the so called aristocracy have the 'front of 'old 'arry'? In light of what has happened in the past, is it not the epitome of bad taste for our heir apparent to wed his doxy in this blaze of publicity? I think they should just creep away and do the business in private (preferably in another country) and only return as and when required (i.e at the death of HRH the Queen). I also think that the country should then decide whether we want Charles as our King, and 'Figurehead'. We should have some options by that time. Jacqui |
