The Wirral has 10 police stations spread across the area. Only 2 of those stations are open past 11pm. With alot of crime happening at night, what are people supposed to do, especially in the more richer areas away from the main town where their nearest station is a fair drive away? |

I've just been told that our local station isn't open at all over the weekend. Find this pretty disgusting really considering the amount of 'antisocial behavior' when the pubs chuck out. We're in a reasonable sized town just outside a city, not a small village in the middle of nowhere. Jeanette x |

Best way to find a copper when all the plod shops are closed is to chuck a brick through the plod shop window. Pretty soon a member of the constabulary will arrive to open up and have a little chat with you. |

our police station is only part time - one night while i was sitting waiting in the car a drunk guy came over and tried to drag me out. Dug sorted it but went straight to the police station - it was closed. the emergency phone was not working. when we got home he phoned the police station in the the next town - and they werent answering the phone! it scary to think what would have happend if he had have had a knife!?? |

Didn't know that. Seems quite low. I can't see any mention of it on their website |

Daniel, We rarely see the Police on foot. The nearest that we get th them is when they fly over in their helicopter. Louise |

I served as a police officer for 30 years. What they are doing is scandalous. We used to pride ourselves in being a police SERVICE. Last week I found a bike, probably stolen, outside my garage. Rang the police 'you are ninth in the queue'. didn,t botherany further. happy days |

Wendy, see my note on being a police officer, above. We used to have dear old souls who used to do that regularly just to get bed and breakfast. god bless them - although we didn,t say that at the time. happy days |

Our local police station is only open Mon-Fri. Like lots of other areas we have a high crime rate (South of the Thames). The nearest station is Streatham or Brixton which is so busy people do not bother reporting `minor` offences any more. Marianne. |

We live in a village in Bedfordshire, our nearest town has a police station, but it's only open on Tuesday mornings and Thursday afternoon ( 2 hours each time). We must have Nil crime ( yeah right). Only time you see a police car go through our village is when the chief of police goes home. Jo. |
