Just bought a wishing well to plant some plants in. Is it possible to plant sweetpeas in or do they need to grow up the wall etc? Any tips are great Cheers Bev

Think they like crawling up walls Bev. How about nasturtiums (spell?)? BC

I love sweetpeas but I thought only the climbing variety was available.

I bought bush sweet peas the year before last - and very pretty they were too. I saved the seed for last year and they reverted to form and trailed all down the bank in our garden - so yes they can go down as well as up! I think my only reservation about putting them in a 'confined' space is that they are greedy plants - so keeping the nutrition and moisture up in the soil up might be a problem. Why not treat it like a hanging basket and plant a couple of uprights and trailers around the sides?... Or what about cherry tomatoes? Magsxx

Thanks for the advice! As these are climbers I think I will do what they are supposed to do and let them climb....now I will have to find something else for my wishing well! Cheers everyone! Bev
