I, too, am not Catholic - but to me that doesn't matter. He's a very much respected man, and will be missed when he crosses over.

The Pope is fading but is serene and peaceful, and will soon be with God, his suffering is nearing it's end. God Bless the Pope. Anne .

If anyone's interested there are some lovely comments about him on the BBC News website. Regardless of faith, everyone seems to have such tremendous respect for this lovely man. Sue

I pray for the Pope, and shall be thinking of him - as leader of the Roman Catholic Church, and in past years as a resistance worker in his native Poland in world war 2. God bless him and his flock. Joy

I'm not catholic, but he seems such a lovely man. I'm sure the world will be a poorer place without him. I just hope that they let him go with dignity. Heard on the news this morning he had been given cardiac assistance.

I am Catholic and know we are about to lose a great leader. I pray that Pope John Paul does not suffer. The news this morning said he was concscious and serene and was present at 6am Mass this morning. Anne

I am not a Catholic but the Pope has my respect as a man and as a Leader of his Church. During his Papacy he has remained steadfast to his Faith. What God could ask for more?

Hi Bob, I guessed you didn't know the situation at the time, but I agree with you that he has suffer a lot recently, and can quite easy believe he would 'be willing to be in gods hands' after all that is what he trusts and believes in. Which must be a great comfort to him........Lilly

Sorry if I appeared premature, but I am sure that I heard recently that the Pope was willing ' to be in God's Hands' Given the amount of suffering that he has endured recently, I think that he has decided that it is time...........
