Hi Steph, thanks for that. We did change the solution anyway just in case when he took them out tonight. He did really well tonight and got them both out on the second attempt!! |

Yes!! Fresh solution every day, and make sure he washes his hands before he takes out or puts in his lenses. Eye infections while wearing contacts is not nice!! (sadly, speaking from experience!) |

Thanks everyone. The ones he's got are monthly disposables. I don't think he can get daily disposables because of the strength of his prescription but I will check it out. He has to wear them tonight for 2 hours, tomorrow for 4 hours, Friday for 6 and gradually increase the time until he gets used to them. It only took him 20 minutes tonight to get them both in, as opposed to 35 minutes for one eye yesterday so he's getting better. Does he have to change the solution daily does anyone know? He can't remember what the optician said, nor can his father! |

I've got gas permeable which I get through local optician, but it sounds like a good idea to get the disposables for sport. They sound like they are a lot cheaper than they used to be so I might inquire about some more for me. I was 7 when I first started wearing them and never found them a problem Ros |

My husband has gas permeable lenses, but gets special disposable ones from Specsavers for playing rugby. nell |

Get mine from Dolland & Aitchison. I wear soft lens and used to get a pair through each month that I would put in solution when I wasn't wearing them. However, because I now only tend to wear them when I go out (excluding going to work), I found I wasn't getting value for money. So I switched to getting 10 pairs of throwaway ones each month, can't remember exactly how much I pay but it's less than £15. |

Once you have got a copy of the contact lens prescription. Getlenses.com is a great site to order lenses. I pay £60 for a years supply. (monthly disposables) you can also buy a 3 month supply. |

Not sure about the best place, but I get mine from Specsavers. Includes the solutions etc. I have monthly disposable ones. Mine cost £17.50 a month, only so much higher than others they sell because of my astigmatism. I think they usually changes something around the £10 mark a month. There are ones that my sister uses, you don't have to take them out for a whole month! But not sure what prescription she gets them in, she's not as blind as I am. Hope this helps. |

My 9 year old (Jack) plays a lot of football and is as blind as a bat without his glasses so hubby thought contact lenses would be a good idea. He took him to Boots last night and came home with a trial pack of monthly ones as apparently they don't do daily ones in his prescription strength. Jack spent two hours with the opticians assistant learning how to put them in and take them out and they said he was much better behaved than some adults they get!!!!! (His dad bought him the new England shirt as a reward!) Is there anyone who wears lenses who can offer tips for him or recommend the best place to get lenses from?? |
