Hi all, I don't know if this board is the appropriate place to start, but I would like people to know about the hard work that various youngsters from the south wales valleys put in to help make the Tsunami appeal a success. They all took part in a project called "the pippin project", which is based in the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff. The project involved painting pictures of famous pop stars, sporting heroes etc, which were then signed by the personalities and auctioned off for charity. The young people who were involved in this project included school children, youth groups etc. I had the pleasure of working with a group of unemployed 16 and 17 year olds from the Bridgend and Aberdare valleys. To their credit, they all worked like trojans - some of their paintings have reached over £1000.00. Unfortunately, they did not get a mention in the press, which is why I am writing this here. People can sometimes be quick to have a go at the youth of today - and sometimes that might be right. But, on the other hand, I wish to say how proud I am of each and every one of these people. If anyone would like to see examples of their work just take a look at the millennium stadium's home page or visit www.pippinsdesigns.co.uk |
