Hiya, In view of the problems on GC at the moment i thought it would be nice to have a posative thread on here, so I would ask all members who have had a posative experience on this site to add to this thread. Whether it being finding a family member on here, to gaining information for you family tree, or even making new friends, please add below. Me first! I am thankful to this site for helping me find my birth sister after 44 years, also grateful for the members who offer help and advise so freely from coping with the teeange years, to helping trace a relative or doing a census look-up, you are a great buch of people. Thank you one and all :O)) Best wishes Sheila

Hi Shiela, this question has an easy reply,.You get a lot of new friends ,you have people to talk to if you are lonely ,you find a load of relatives you didn,t know you had [if lucky] and you won,t get bored in the evenings so long as you have a puter and internet connection. Hows that for an answer?Denis.

I had no real knowledge of my family tree before GC but now I have the history back to 1730 on one side and lotsmore to go. Even found some living relatives! None of this could have happened without GC and the majority of kind, generous and warm people who use it and have helped me enormously. Thanks to all of you. Lindsey

My reason to thank GC. It is for all the wonderful people you meet on this site that I now regard as friends. When you have reached the point of giving up, think you have tried everything to solve your brick wall. feel down the marvelous people here cheer you up give advice and start you on a new track. Without you wonderful people I and I am sure lots more would have given up. So thank you ALL and thank you GC for enabaling me to make contact with these wonderful STARS****** You are great. Pat

Yes, a big reason to thank GC and the kindness of its members! Had almost no knowledge (and incredibly no real interest!) of my family a year ago, and now these ancestors are a huge and wonderful part of my life. So hard now to think I existed all my life without knowing about these people. Definitely life-changing! And to think of all the delicious holidays in front of me meandering around those Sussex ancestral villages........

I have a lot to thank GC for as with the help of other kind members I was able to contact family members in Australia who the family had lost touch with many years ago, I also found that my cousin who I had searched for many years had died and am now in touch with his widow. I also had many kind messages sent as my father has lung cancer. Thanks to all who have given me help and support. Debbie

Without GC I don't think I would have got nearly so far with the family tree. Terrific members help, point in the right direction etc etc. There is always something on the boards, whether its just reading the threads, adding to them, doing a quiz or joining in a debate or discussion. The majority of members are friendly and helpful. Best thing I've joined in many a year. Janet

Thank you Genes Connected for :- The finding of three, (& more) cousins on three different branches of my family. Making me laugh & cry at some of the threads on this board. Making me realise that i'm not the only one who has problems & many people are worse off than I am. ( Puts things into perspective ). Giving me the chance to be part of a lovely community of people here on these boards, Elaine x :o))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Firstly and most importantly it has to be for the really super people. I have enjoyed many laughs, had some very comforting messages and in return hopefully, have been able to reciprocate. It helps us all to appreciate that there is always someone, where ever you look, that is probably going through a worse time than you think you are. It's pretty good for finding rellies too!!!! Thank you everyone. Lynda (:-)))))))

Last month Carol and Crista in America got the address of my cousin for me. I wrote to him and eagerly awaited a reply it didn't seem forth coming then tonight he telephoned me! He had been away and only just received my letter and rather than make me wait he rang. Best news of all I have another cousin here in England who has all the info I require!! I am so happy thank you all so much. Linda x UPDATE The cousin here phoned me this afternoon and what a wealth of information he has, and I have been able to fill gaps in for him and we are meeting up soon! All thanks to the wonderful people on this site!!

I too would like to add my thanks to GC,and to all the friendly and helpful people. Not wanting to ask for a lookup, trying to search myself by reading all the tips, but a lovely lady suggested I asked for a lookup, and the floodgates opened. It means a lot to be able to read all the technical advice in plain english. The sense of humour cheers me up,and makes me glad to be a part of it all,if only just to read and not always partake. I am learning all the time, and when I have been able to help someone else, however small,I feel pleased to be able to put something back. Thank you to Tyne, who went to the trouble of taking photos of houses in Liverpool, and actually posting them to me. Thank you to all of you. regards trish
