Hi Blindasabat I have just googled it and yes you are absolutely right here ya go. When the summer day is over Its busy cares have flown I will sit beneath the starlight With a weary heart alone Then it rises like a vision Sparkling bright it shines for me My own dear, Ellan Vannin With it's green hills by the sea Let me hear the ocean murmur Let me watch your stormy sky Then above the emerald waters Sing the seagull as she flies and i kissed his anus his anus was brown so i kissed his bumhole and took him round town And in all my times of sorrows And onsome lonely shore I'll go back to Ellan Vannin To my childhood days once more Oh my goodness... If there is a hidden meaning here I am not getting it. That verse doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the song do you think???? Ria xxx |

These are the lyrics to the one sung by the Spinners many years ago. ELLEN VANNEN Snaefell, Tyndwall and Benmachree, Fourteen ships set out to sea. Proudly bearing a Manx name, But there's one will never again CHO: O Ellen Vannen, of the Isle of Man Company, O Ellen Vannen, lost on the Irish Sea. At one a.m. in Ramsey Bay Captain Tier was heard to say 'The contract says deliver the mail In this rough weather we must not fail.' Liners sheltered from the storm On the wave Ellen Vannen was borne Her holds were full and battened down As she sailed away for Liverpool town Her crew were twenty one Manx men Passengers Liverpool businessmen 'Farewell to Mona's Isle, farewell This little boat is bound for Hell!' Less than a mile from the Bar Lightship Ellen Vannen by a wave was hit She sank 'neath the waters of Liverpool Bay There she lies until this day Few Manxmen now remember The third day in the month December A terrible storm in ninety-nine Ellen Vannen sailed the very last time Gwynne |

I think we have to get to the BOTTOM of this (sorry couldnt resist) Had a listen and yes I think someone is messing about (bit rude). The song is beautiful, would love to hear it sung by someone with a lower voice than Robin Gibb. Guinevere, I have had a listen to the Spinners song too. Like it. Mind you loved the Spinners. The video shows the faces of the people who died it is very sad...... Ria xxx |
