I think they should ban ALL addictive drugs - like alcohol, cigs, tea, coffee, chocolate etc etc etc. (where does one stop? lol)

I know a chap who had mental problems - drug related? I think it more likely he was born with them. Or maybe it was the glue sniffing he did as a teen with his brother (who "accidentally" killed himself with a plastic bag stuck to his face). The chap I knew didnt smoke dope till he was in his twenties and only on rare occasions - but lets blame that eh?

What a lot of people dont realise is that a many of the people with mental or emotional problems turn to alcohol or drugs to escape the problems they have - it doesnt necessarily mean the drugs are the cause, tho it could, no doubt, aggravate the problem.

In my life time I have known some desperately unhappy people, who only knew one way to escape the nightmare of their lives - usually they started with booze and worked their way up, some to heroin (which I am told is the ultimate in escapism).

As for myself, I went through a very bad time with a boyfriend when I was in my 20s and used gin to block out my misery..... and was on a bottle + a night. I would deliberately miss my train when going home from work - so that then I could wait in the pub for the next one.

This country is going to have a very serious alcohol problem very soon - and that is one drug I would definately like to see banned. Everyone is ready to shout about all the problems and crimes caused by dope smokers - but I wonder how they compare, statistically, with drinkers.
