Just hoping that someone may be able to assist with a problem I am currently experiencing. I am writing a document on Microsoft Word and have each page numbered. However, the page which should be page 1 is showing as page 0 and the next is page 1 which should be page 2 and so on.

I hope this makes sense.

Thank you in advance

Mark

Hi Mark
I can't help myself but you might find you get more response if you put your query on the General Chat board. There are a number of computer savvy people among the members but not everyone looks on the Hobbies Board so they won't see your post on here.

Good luck

That is strange Mark, I have just looked (I write quite a few docs and number the pages) When you click on insert and page numbers it always (on mine) comes up with page 1. I can't see a page 0 at all. I am on Windows 7 and firefox. Have you tried deleting page numbers and doing it again?

As you never came back, Mark, I assume you sorted your problem. However, doing a document today I found mine automatically started on 1 so I had a little play to find what to do if I wanted it to start on another number.

So, for the benefit of anyone else who finds the same problem as Mark....

On Microsoft Word, with your document open, click on "Insert", then find the heading "Page Number" (mine is with Headers and Footers). Click on this and then on "Format Page Number" on the menu that comes up. In the formatting box that comes up there is a section "Page Numbering" and here you can enter the number you wish to start at - anything from 0 upwards. I expect Mark must have had this set at 0.

Of course, if you only have a couple of pages it's probably easier to delete the wrong numbers and type in the correct ones :-D

EDIT: This was Windows 10 and Firefox

HI, Yes sorry I did in the end manage to start with page one but still not sure how I managed it. :-D
