If you search for Anita Maureen in the Australian electoral rolls there's an
Anita Maureen Hutcheson in Kalgoorlie in 1977.

Hi I did message them but unfortunately they have no records for 2002.
The book of condolences would have gone to the next of kin (Anita my mother).
So I hit another dead end there.
Thanks for the help though.
Cheers

Another site listed Chippers as the undertaker.

Not sure if they are able to help you.

Just an update ... family tree is sorted thank you Patchem and Jax.
I have populated it as much as possible with what I know.
Now its a white pages search circa 1999 - 2002 to try and find where Alan and Nora lived post 1980.
I have not had any reply from the member with Stella in their tree as yet but am hoping something may come of that.
Other than that I am struggling again really.
I am going to try placing an ad in the Mandurah Mail requesting any information friends neighbours or colleagues may have regarding Alan Roy, Nora or indeed Anita my birth mother.
Does anyone know if there are people who could search microfiche in Australia on a paid basis if need be ?
Cheers

When you add someone to your tree and you do not know when they died - DO NOT tick the unsure box, just leave it and the date blank.

I have tested that on my tree and it seems to work.

Karl

Karl Report 22 Jun 2014 14:36

Right I shall populate more on my tree ... as much info as I have.
I see your point it increases chances ...

You cannot see anyone elses tree unless they give permission

Edit

I have noticed you are not putting in the places of birth of the people you are adding to your tree

If anyone comes looking they may overlook yours if there was more than one born with the same name

Karl Report 22 Jun 2014 13:54

Oh ok Jax ... I like it anyway :-D
I am trying firstly to add Herbert but it will not let me it keeps asking for year of death even though I tich the unsure box ?? Also I am trying to see the tree from the other member but on searching I only get offered to message the member ... which I have already done ?? Is it because I am a standard member maybe ?
Cheers

The reason I use Jax is because it is a shortened version of my full name which has 10 letters which I have always disliked :-D

Although Jax can be a boys name in its own right I believe

Hi all

Wow where to begin ??

Jax ... For some reason when I add a family member to Stella it brings up a box ... this offers places to put DOB and DOD and tick boxes if you are unsure ... when I ticked both of these and tried to submit it would not let me and redirected me back to the box again ? Maybe it had timed out I will try again. Also thank you for the birth year I will add Herbert to Stella with a birthdate now.
Just as a matter of curiosity Jax is an unusual name and happens to be the lead females name in my favourite book "The city .... not long after" by Pat Murphey .. any connection as to why you chose Jax ?

Detective ... thank you for saving me some time ... It astounds me as to how you all find this information out and I am very grateful and in your debt.

Reggie ... Absolutely right elimination is a huge part of searching ... if for every 20 leads you only find 1 genuine one that could be the one to move you forward to the next level. To coin a phrase from one of my favourite childhood films (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang .... please don't groan) "From the ashes of disaster grow the roses of success!!!" ... I will say no one needs to start dancing at this point !!!

Once again many thanks to you all for your help.

Cheers
Karl

The Australian National Archive hold the service records for A R Cotterel. Although they haven't been digitalised yet (might be waiting for a descendent to make the request supported by a DC) , the precise reads

COTTERELL ALFRED RAYMOND : Service Number - QX13679 : Date of birth - 08 May 1920 : Place of birth - BRISBANE QLD : Place of enlistment - KELVIN GROVE QLD : Next of Kin - COTTERELL MERVYN

So Alfred Raymond, not Alan Roy. Therefore not the person you want

I hadn't noticed that the PoW record was for a member of the Australian forces..........not wide awake!

Karl

Karl Report 22 Jun 2014 10:37

Hi Reggie
Thank you very much for the info ... on Alan and Nora's wedding record in Jerusalem it has him listed as soldier so your info definitely ties in. I wonder how the Australia link happened? I have his father Ernest as British ... do you know why he would be in the Australian forces ? My history isn't outstanding did we post our forces to Australia ?
Whatever ... he returned there and I can not find any records of immigration in Australian records. Sorry to seem naïve but I have been going along thinking he was British and only left in the 70s ... seems I have been off the mark. This forces info is fascinating though ... I wonder if there are any pictures out there? I have never actually seen a member of my family yet.
I have messaged the member with Stella in her tree but it is an old account ... I am praying she still uses the email linked to this site. Otherwise tracing her is going to be a long and arduous task.
On your record search does it give DOB of Herbert W ? I want to add this side into my tree but without DOB or DOD GR will not let me.
Brilliant research Reggie ... Thank you very much ... a whole new picture is forming ... with every new fact there are a dozen questions though.
