Find Living Relatives

I am trying to find anyone who knows anything about Herbert Waddington born circa 1911 in the Halifax West Yorkshire area
I have found on the 1911 census 2 Herbert Waddingtons , one the son of Samuel and Clara and the other the son of Evelyn and Elizabeth ,

The Hebert Waddington I am looking for any information about was the father of my friend Chris .

Chris was born in London in 1953 and on his birth certificate his mother is Catherine Waddington nee Murphy and her address is a London address

His fathers name is on the birth certificate /Herbert Waddington and his address is a Barnsley address .

Herbert Waddington brought his wife and son to Yorkshire when Chris was nearly 3 years old .

He left them with friends and they never saw him again

.All Chris's mother told him about Herbert was that he was from Halifax and was a long distance lorry driver

Chris who is not writing this himself because of a disability would like to know more about his Ancestry

The last known address for Herbert is from 1953 /24a Doncaster Road Barnsley

We can find no record of Herbert in the 1939 register nor can we find a marriage for Herbert and Catherine [Kitty]

Chris has put his DNA on Ancestry , and has had no luck

.If any one knows of a Herbert Waddington who might fit this profile , we would be grateful

herbert could have been married to someone else when chris was born

Lynda have you noted that Chris' birth reg is also in the surname Byron mmn Murphy ( from freebmd.org. uk.

There is a Catherine Murphy marriage 1950, it would appear that she was married under another name also, so it may be that she was not free to marry Mr Waddington

Yes thank you Malyon , we did think that Chris's Mum just took the name Murphy ,
and that Herbert left them in Yorkshire because he had a wife elsewhere

I have just found a marriage for Wiiliam Byron and Catherine Murphy /Horsefall

1950 Stepney

Catherine did get married again under the name Waddington in 1961 .

Im looking just now for a marriage to a Horsefall ,

She was a lovely lady ,,, but very secretive about her past

It looks to me as if Catherine's surname at the time of Chris's birth was Byron. She was either still married to or divorced or separated from Mr. Byron.

If she was not married to Mr. Waddington at the time of the birth then Chris had to be registered in her surname at the time (Byron) but Mr. Waddington must have gone to the register office with her (or signed to admit paternity) so that Chris could be registered in his surname too.

There is a marriage for a Herbert Waddington, Halifax 1941, a possibility that his wife re married in 1956? and again sometime later, now deceased.

I know it's not Halifax, but wondered if this one was worth considering- a Lorry driver who dies in 1956 (which might account for his disappearance?)
