Maybe you need to trace his mum
She may have later married and be easier to trace

You would need to know more about her though to try and pinpoint the right lady

Unles he was adopted and had his name changed, you must remove the actual DOB.

Also, unless his mother is known to have died, it isn't very tactful to name her on here

Thank you for your replies. To answer you both . His mother has died and was a close relation of mine, and his name will have changed.

Have you looked in member trees on here?

Do you know what his (sur)name was changed to, for instance he took the surname of his mother’s subsequent partner?

You could add a post’em to his birth entry on Freebmd - it was registered in the 1st quarter the following year. Leave a dedicated email address from such as @gmail or @hotmail. If he or a close relative ever looks, they’d be able to send you a message. Say something like ‘biological mothers relative would welcome contact’. You could be more precise depending on your own relationship to Ruth.

Was he in contact with his biological mother when she died? Could he have registered her death?

If he was adopted out of the family, then use this link.

There is a section where you can hire an intermediary who is allowed access to his adoption file. If they successfully trace him, and he agrees, they can put you both in touch.

If you employ an intermediary, check their charges before committing yourself.
