Social Services Post Adoption team may suggest you employ an Adoption Intermediary. If you decide to do this, check their charges before committing yourself.

Welcome to the boards, Gary.

The first thing to do is add her & your name to the adoption contact register.
https://www.gov.uk/adoption-records/the-adoption-contact-register

The link also contains details for hiring an Intermediary. They’d be allowed to access her adoption file, discover her new name &, hopefully, trace her. She’d have to give permission for you to be given contact details.

Contact your local Social Services post adoption service. They may be able to help you.

Add her name to your tree on this site. On the off chance she or a current relative try to find birth family via GR, they’d search for her birth name. That reason, make sure your GR account is always linked to a working email address. Don’t delete your GR account. You can always allow it to lapse if you don’t want to pay the subscription.

Michelle’ birth registration is shown on the GRO index on https://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl
Add a brief Post’em (message) to the entry saying something along the lines that birth family welcomes contact. Leave a generic email address. It’s a long shot that she’d ever see it, but you never know.
