I am looking for my father Saviour Cross Zammit. He was a gunner in the RA. His father was Alfred who was Petty Officer in RN. Does this ring any bells to anyone? Does anyone have anymore information?

Welcome to the boards, Karen.

As you have posted on the "Find Living Ancestors" board, I assume you hope to make contact with him?

You don't give any indication of dates.
There's a marriage record for a Saviour C Zammit to Lilian M Sawyer in 1953 in West Ham.

Does that sound likely?

There are a lot of records for people named both Saviour Zammit (no middle name) and Alfred Zammit in Malta, but I don't know if they're relevant.

Do you know when your father was born? Just the year will do, in case he's still living.
Did he live in the UK?

Is this your Alfred? There seem to have been more than one Alfred Zammit at sea, judging by range of dates in various records.

Alfred Zammit
in the UK, Naval Medal and Award Rolls, 1793-1972
Name: Alfred Zammit
Medal or Award: RN Long Service and Good conduct Medal
Service Year: 1940-1944
Ship Name: Decoy

My fathers middle name was Cross so Saviour Cross Zammit.

ArgyllGran Report 22 Sep 2019 21:38

He wasn't born in the UK.
Do you know where he was born?

Presumably not, as you haven't put a birthplace on your tree here on GR.

So Australia or Malta could be possibilities.

I don't see a record of any sort for the full name Saviour Cross Zammit.

The 1953 marriage of Saviour C Zammit is the nearest in the records - you say he married your mum in 1953. Is that the right marriage which I mentioned - to Lilian Sawyer?

He would have received an Army pension.
The staff won't tell you where he is, but they might tell you whether or not the pension is still being paid.

Alternative spelling of his name might be Xavier.
