It means that that death I posted is for the Edward born 19 nov 1920 so rules out it being the Edward you are looking for

Hi Rose, I looked on Members Trees but didn’t see an Andrew. Can you enlighten me please? I don’t know of any family member by that name, but they may be coming from another branch of the family I’m not aware of.

I did find a Leslie E Gale who married Margaret Payne in Warminster in 1979, and wondered if Edwards middle name L was Leslie.

Just grasping at straws really. He may have moved further away than that.

Thanks everyone for looking. If you have any more ideas please let me know, otherwise it’s a brick wall atm

Thanks from Glyn

Look under ‘search all member trees’ for others who may have him in their tree

Yes that’s the birth date, posted to show that the Probate is for a different person

Thanks Shirley. What is 14 NO1920 though? DOB? Because Edward was born 1942.
Sorry Rose I keep meaning to update my family tree on here but not got round to it. Did you mean someone called Andrew has Edward L Gale on his tree? I don’t know of him.
How did you find that out?
Thanks all.

Why not add these names to your tree on here?

Do you know an Andrew who has some of these names?

EDIT - Please ignore this post as I have found the birth of someone with this name in Whittlesey so it is more likely to be him.

Only his birth shows on FMP and no electoral addresses at all

Would any other family member have known him so may know what happened to him

Glyn Report 19 Feb 2020 14:37

Yes he’s Ernest’s son, but I was told that Violet had a breakdown and ended up in the mental hospital in Devizes. I think it could have been post natal depression. So Edward wasn’t brought up by her and we lost touch with him.
I remember being told he was brought to see her in Devizes but whether he was adopted or fostered I’m not sure, and my parents had Violet over at Christmas and other times, but her husband wasn’t very kind or sympathetic to her and not much was understood of mental illness and post natal depression back then.
I seem to remember it was said something was wrong with Edwards health, and I thought he might have had Downs Syndrome. He was possibly in an institution, not necessarily near TROWBRIDGE or Devizes.
He was older than me, and I never met him, but doing the family research made me wonder what happened to him.
I couldn’t find any record of his death, but he may be dead now.
I never had any contact with Ernest Gale, but he wasn’t around when Violet came to stay with us
Sorry not to know any more.
Thanks for your help so far

I'm going to throw this out there.......

Only child born during the war after 11 years of marriage. Was he actually Ernest's son? Might explain an adoption or fostering situation.

Who registered his father’s death?

Glyn

Glyn Report 19 Feb 2020 10:03

I’m not sure if he’s still alive. He’s the son of my grandmothers sister, Violet Maria Gale, nee Weston. She ended up with mental illness in Devizes, Wiltshire where she died in 1977.
It’s possible Edward was adopted or fostered, and he may have had Downs Syndrome.
All I have been able to find is he was born abt May, 1942 ( vol 5a, page 270) in TROWBRIDGE, Wiltshire. His father was Ernest Francis Gale, died 1980.
Can any of you intrepid searchers find out anything more about Edward please?
Thanks
Glyn
