Looking For Lost Sister Not Solved

ProfilePosted byOptionsPost Date

Kerrie Report 27 Jun 2021 19:49

I am trying to locate my sister who was born and adopted in 1951 in Nottingham .

Her birth name was Sheila Ann Margaret Sharpe born March 1951 registered at birth by Mary E Thomas .

Her parents were Mary E Thomas January 1929, her Father was Stanley James Sharpe June 1917.

Both Sheila and I shared the same Birth Mother but had different Father's.

I know Sheila's Daughter was searching for her Mother's birth family 2 years ago but the social media site that she posted on she is no longer a member of .

We have never met each other.

My birth name was Patricia Ellen Woodford born May 1948 and I was adopted by my grandparents, my name was then changed to Patricia Ellen Thomas .

I am looking for a way to connect to my Sister and I wonder if you could provide details on a way forward .

I am 73yrs and Sheila is 70yrs , I would be most grateful if you could help to reunite us both .

Update have done DNA but no matches on maternal side .
Also added to adoption site

First of all, Kerrie, please remove your exact DOB (it's OK to leave the year) and email address.
It's against board guidelines, and could leave you open to unwanted emails, spam, phishing, identity theft, etc.

As Sheila was adopted, we won't be able to trace her online, as her name will have been changed.
Register with the Adoption Contact Register, if you haven't already done so.

It's not a sure-fire way to contact her, as it depends on her also having registered, looking for her birth family.
However, if you're both registered, you can be put in contact with each other.

Kerrie, as well as removing your email address you also need to remove your telephone number. Argyllgran seems to have missed it.

Yes, I did miss that.

No one can help as her name would have changed on adoption

Have you put your details on the national adoption register

If she also registers then your details would be passed on to her

The register is held by

www.gro.gov.uk

The daughter's appeal for help, 2 years ago:

"Long shot, looking for family history info on Sharp/e family in Nottingham UK.

I'm 31 and it's become important to me to find someone in my family. My mother was adopted as a baby, she was born March 1951, in Nottingham. She only knows a small amount about her biological family.

My mums birth mother had other children, she knows she has both older and younger siblings.

Her birth mum took her back for three weeks before finally deciding to return her to her adopted mother.

The family lived in Nottingham.

She strongly belives her dad's name is Stan Sharp/e. She says he had a car garage.

She also has one photo of what she strongly believe to be her birth mother.

Beyond this I know nothing. But as I get older and have children of my own, I feel its important to at least try find some information. If nothing else to see if there are any medical issues I should be looking out for, for my ageing mother and other family members.

Any help is welcomed, but I realise how much of a long shot this is.

Thank you."

Unfortunately no mention of her mother's adopted name, nor her own name nor location.

Maybe they need to try the dna route as there were other children. Anyone of whom could also be looking.

Kerrie, you have marked this thread as answered which implies you have found the family.

If this is not what you meant you cannot cancel the tick but you can change the title to show that the query is not yet solved.

There’s no birth for Stanley in 1917

?

Births Sep 1920
Sharpe Stanley J Hannon Burnley 8e 410

Or

Births Dec 1922 (>99%)
Sharpe Stanley J Shelton Tetbury 6a 576

Not that it helps finding Sheila

As has been said on your other thread, you have done everything you can to find her.

Sadly, without knowing her present name, there is no way for you (or us) to trace her.
