I want to know about my uncle who served in the navy in the Second World war. He was a survivor of the HMS Eagle sinking Aug 1942,( air craft carrier ). I want to find out how to research what happened to him after the sinking unttil the end of the war.

"Service records (1929-present)
If a rating joined in 1929 or after, visit the GOV.UK website for information about how to request a summary of a service record from the Ministry of Defence. These are available to next of kin and members of the general public on request to the MOD, provided the subject is no longer living. An administrative fee applies. Please note, these records are not available to view online."

If you post his name, service number and any other familial information you wish to disclose, other members MAY be able fill in some of the blanks. ie Marriages, Births, Electoral Registers etc

Any specific information you are already aware of would be useful to post, so that other members can avoid duplicating searches/information.

"what happened to him after the sinking until the end of the war" if this is what you are specifically looking for in his Naval service and not his private life, his Service Record is the place to look. Be prepared, a quick looks suggest a minimum of a year after you submit an application, if your application meets the criteria.
