Staffslass,

A gadget clock, I have never heard of it. Great idea so I'll google it and see if I can download it. One of my problems is I use 1 of 3 computers so will download one for all three.

Thanks for the idea.

You can download a "gadget" clock to go on your main screen if you wanted to.

I have two one is UK time (me) and one shows Indiana time (my brother)

Sorry Gai I had to go to bed...obviously not for long

The time in the threads themselves is in the 24 hour clock format

Yes that was the time in the Uk just now it is 10.04

Yes Jax it does say 4.49. Though in the threads themselves it doesn't have am or pm.

So that is the actual time in the Uk then?

Is'nt the time you post shown as UK time then ?

Like this one is now 4.49 a.m or does it say something different for the people overseas?

It's just a suggestion. If no one else has a problem then I'm sure Phil can disregard it.

Maybe I should put a post it note on the computer to help me remember how much behind the UK is. :-D

Being in the UK the time is fine by me :-D

I cannot see that posting in the middle of the night UK time would make much difference with whether you would recieve help or not. There are plenty of people who can help all through the night, whether they are in the UK or not.

Peace River area in norther eastern BC and another area in south east BC both go with Alberta time

............ so they're always 1 hour ahead of us on the coast!

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 28 Jun 2011 21:31

I didn't know that, Sylvia! I still learn something new every day.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 28 Jun 2011 20:18

true!

but Lloydminster, Saskatchewan does change times!

just to complicate matters.

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 28 Jun 2011 19:39

And then, of course, we have Saskatchewan which doesn't go on Daylight Saving or Summer Time.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 28 Jun 2011 18:49

I don't see a problem either

.................... I know that we are usually 8 hours behind the UK

...............except at changeover times from Summer to Winter and vice versa, which we do 2-3 weeks later or earlier than the UK.

Summer time in Canada and the US runs from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November.

Blame George Bush

So we end up 7 hours behind on one, on the other we are 9 hours behind

..... and no, I can never remember which is which, so I work all year on 8 hours behind!

TBH ........... having the time in UK on the actual post makes it easy to work out. I look at that, then glance down at the clock on my computer and check the difference between them

There are 6 time zones across Canada, with a difference of 5½ hours between Newfoundland and British Columbia.

Personally I don't see a problem. There's a clock on the computer, I just remember that UK is 5 hours ahead of me.

Gai, interesting suggestion that certainly would make it clear to members like yourself, the time context of a conversation on boards.

Gai, the UK is titchy in comparison. Hence one time fits all :-D

Island, thank you for the response.

I'm in Sydney and Adelaide is half hour behind and Perth is 2 hours behind us.

Hi Gai

There is only one time zone in the UK - Greenwich Meantime (GMT) in the winter, plus one hour for British Summer Time (BST)
Who knows where the GR office is though ;-)

Gai

Gai Report 28 Jun 2011 04:18

To help some of us overseas members how hard would it be if on the toolbar next to the help tab there was a clock with the current time in the UK.

If there is more than one time zone in the UK then the time shown could be the current time in the GR office. Is there more than one timezone in the UK?

It would then be easy to know that if you sent a message to GR in their morning then you may have a chance of receiving a reply later that day or

if you wanted to post on the boards for a UK question you could pick the time when there is likely to be more members around to answer your questions.

Gai.
