I think the birth registration for Arthur Hicks Mavis posted will prove the theory one way or the other.

According to my albeit limited research is the one I have thinking along is Lousia Pearce but now I am not sure because as you follow this through John dies in 1898 and Louisa goes onto marry Edward plumb in 1899 then on the 1901 census arthur is on there as Arthur Churchill hurwood stepson
I think I threw a spanner in because I received a birth cert for florence anne same date of birth as my gt nan but mother listed as Louisa Churchill née hicks father Arthur Churchill so who knows :-D

I think you've found it there Gins. So I wonder if that means the father won't be named after all.

Could this be Louisa Pearce before her marriage ?? - It would make her old enough to marry in 1874 and her father William is a Glazier !!

Yes, that age would make more sense for the marriage.

My reason for thinking she's also Louisa Pearce with John Hurwood on the 1881 is that Florence Hurwood was Broomstick's Gt..grandmother. So she has traced back to her.

If the Louisa on the 1881 and 1891 were the same person - why would she register her children, born 1884 and 1886, under a different name, and say their father's name was Arthur?

Arthur married Harriett Ellen Boby in 1909 - It would be interesting to see who he named as his father when he married (if anyone) ??

Arthur Hick* father may not be on the baptism but, another man may be named, even a grandfather

Good Morning
I am going to try an look at this again
Dea
when Arthur married Harriett in 1909 he named John Hurwood as his father!!
if that is Louisa on the census born 1856 could she have gotten away with saying she was 36 when she married Edward Plumb??? to make matters even more confusing on the marriage cert her father is William Pearce a glazier but on her marriage cert to Edward her father is Henry Churchill carpenter ????

ChristinaS
that is exactly what I was thinking could she have had both children as a result of an affair?? John was 44 when he died of alcoholic poisoning !!!!!

I will see what today brings thankyou for all your help and pointers

Maureen's post can mean only one thing...

Louisa Mark 1 (Pearce) left John Hurwood and married bigamously (as a widow which she wasn't) to Arthur Hearn in 1883.

So sometime - and judging by the births of Arthur and Florence - Louisa Mark II (Churchill) assumed the mantle of Mrs Hurwood until John died and she remarried to Edward Plumb

Well - A definate connection (of some sort) here :-S :-S :-S - Thanks Mo <3

It is interesting to note that on Louisa's marriage to John Hearn, she is a widow and her father is WILLIAM Pearce, a Glass Stainer !!!

I can see this is going to be another long and confusing day !!! ;-) :-D
