Alice Maud SEDGE b 1882 Milton/Gravesend Kent

There appears to have been 2 babies given the same name in the same year. One born gravesend one born Milton, which is next to gravesend.
The one I am after has a father Alfred JOhn SEDGE, but he appears to have a marriage in sep 1891 so maybe he has a different wife in 1891 and 1901.
Thank you
Gloria

thank you.
The one living in Milton will be mine. But looks like her father has died.
Bit strange. She married in 1907 and her father died 1904. Unless there are 2 Alfred John Sedge as well as 2 Alice Maud's...lol

Thank you for your help

The one that died in 1904 was only 33 so must have been her brother, not her father.

On the 1891 there is an Alfred aged 21 with the Gravesend family.

Hi Gloria,

- a bit on the Dreadnought from Wikipedia:

The sixth HMS Dreadnought of the Royal Navy was a revolutionary battleship which entered service in 1906. So advanced was Dreadnought that she gave her name not just to a class but to an entire generation of battleships, the dreadnoughts, whilst the ships she made obsolete became known as "pre-dreadnoughts".

- this one may be Alfred's:

HMS Dreadnought, a battleship launched in 1875 and hulked in 1903, then sold in 1908

Does this mean that Alfred would be in the Royal Navy? Service records? I seem to remember that Heather Posi has RN ancestors (but could be wrong)

Thank you Ivy. On Alice's marriage she puts him as engine driver but on some census he is a fireman so not really sure.
This one is a bit of an off shoot really as its ALice's husband that is my connection so I just got a little sidetracked with this one.
Thanks for the info though.
