Hi Vera - sorry I've been away so long. Had to take a break - head spinning. Thank you for the 1861 info. It looked promising and noticing that Matilda was a widow at the early age of 31 I went onto freebmd and just inputted Death - Pike - 1859 - 1861 and up came Benjamin Ward Pike died Yarmouth 1861. This was the only death of a Pike in Yarmouth so it has to be Matilda's husband - in other words I now know that my Benjamin Pike's parents were Benjamin Ward Pike and Matilda ?. However, like you I decided to trace them on 1871 census but to no avail. How do they manage to disappear. Never mind, something was achieved. |

1871. Matilda is down as married, but can't see her husband Alfred anywhere. |

I wonder if Alfred was a seaman....quite possible living in Yarmouth. |
