Find Ancestors

I have the marriage certificate that shows my GG Grandmother to be Agnes Fitzgerald and she married Walter James Deering in 1898. Her father is listed as Thomas Fitzgerald (deceased) Walter is 22 and Agnes is 21. (b 1877 ?)

I would like to trace Agnes' parents abut have the following problems:

1891 census - Agnes is a domestic servant to Frederick Malyon. It shows her as 16 (b 1875 ?) I know this is her, as Frederick is one of the witnesses on the marriage certificate. Shows her born in Mile End Old Town

1881 census - Agnes is living with George Murphy and he is listed as her grandfather. Shows her born in St Georges in the East

1901 census - She is married so would not be living with parents, but I can't find Walter and Agnes Deering listed at all

I also can't find a record of her birth so can't order a birth certificate.

How can I find out who her parents were? Any help appreciated.

What was Walter's occupation?

A possibility? Occupation on this one looks like Wine Cellarman? Walter and Agnes were both born Mile End and the children both in Spitalfields.

Hi Sam, Walter was a cellerman. Yes that is my family.

I found them in 1901 indexed under DERRING.

Borth are aged 24 and born in Mile End Old Town.
Have children Walter age 2 and Henry 3 months.

However that does not help find her father and mother !! Have you found Walter before his marriage ?

Yes, I'm OK with Walter. I'm just not sure where to start looking for Agnes, I just keep hitting a brick wall.

FTR, Walter's parents are Joseph Deering and Margaret ? b Stromness, Orkney. I haven't had a lot of luck with her either!

I've tried looking for Derring in the 1901 census and can't find them. Am I doing something wrong?

thomas and margaret have no children in 1871 or 1881

what are you using to look for her in 1901 - (born 1877) - she is there using ancestry

are you sure the grandfather wasnt called john?

If someone has a few minutes spare, could you please see if you can find Agnes' birth so I can order her birth certificate. I can't find anything but I don't think I'm very good at looking!

There are 4 Agnes Fitzgerald's born in the London area in 1874 and more in other years with a middle name. Pity she is not consistent with where she was born

probably not the one registered in Pancras as she is probably the one in 1881 with father Peter

I'm not sure what to do with her. All family come from East London (Mile End & Bethnal Green) so doubt anything else will be her. Are there other places/ways to search for her?
