I believe he was registered as Henry Drake born 1816 in Findsbury but possibly Francis G Drake was not his father as it shows he died during ww1 a year before
His mother may have registered him as Rosina Drake, or Rosina Barber

Christine1234 Report 26 May 2019 15:42

My apologies to everybody that was kind enough to respond to my chat, my account lapsed due to my health, but now up and running again.
My search is really towards my Grand father Robert Johnson now, as it seems I had a wrong thread on him
Robert Johnson born March 21st 1894 last known address is College Avenue Richmond Virginia, His paperwork refers to him as Mulato Black American
He travelled from New York on the British SS Ansonia on the 10th January 1917 and arrived at Liverpool dock England on 26th January 1917
His Alien paperwork had him as Private Robert Johnson 299731
He met and married my grandmother Rosina Drake (nee Barber) who was white English

He died in London Islington 26th May 1924 age 30
Leaving three sons, and a step son
The only details I have on his American family is that his father my Great Grandfather was also called Robert Johnson and born in Richmond Virginia.

He had two witnesses on his paperwork to prove who he was, James Thornton 611 College Ave Richmond Virginia and Robert Field 911 St Johns Richmond Virginia.

would really apricate any help from you lovely people out there

Thanking you in advance Christine 1234

Christine, send Lisa a message by clicking on her name. If she's still using the same linked email address, she'll be notified that you've sent her a message.

Even if she'd used the 'Watch this' button, there's no guarantee that it works. Most of the time its a bit flaky.

Lisa Report 9 Jul 2012 11:08

Hi I came across this thread during research for my grandfather's family. My grand father was Francis George Barber, born in 1913, and is the youngest brother of Rosina Barber, who is my great aunt. His parents were Charles Barber and Elizabeth Farrington, and of his 13 siblings I remember him talking most about his sisters Becky, Alice and Sarah. My grandfather was always called by his middle name, George, and I don't think that many people known his first name was Francis. He married my Nan, Ada Dorothy Stevens, and they had two children, Peter, who died at the age of 18, and my father, George Robert Barber.

I am interested to know more about my grandfather's siblings and family and was wondering if you known the identity of Rosina's first son to her marriage to Francis Drake.

A. Johnson is my farther born 1922 and Robert his older brother, the other brother is Eugene William Johnson
