I think I'm pretty much stumped at this point! Catharine and Patrick could have married anywhere, India, England, or Ireland.

Oh wow. Now John O'Brien had grandchildren BOTH named William and Ellen so that does not help!

Hi there, I have been away from research for a few months and I wonder if anyone else can help me with this?

Can you spot a birth or baptism for my ancestor John O'Brien born c. 1853 in Kurrachee, East India? His father is Patrick O'Brien a ship's carpenter.

Thank you; this does help me explain a few things. The 1881 census could be him as his age varies from c. 1852-1859, so who knows?

I did look for John born 1858 on the second link, but I couldn't find it ... was I doing something wrong?

I'd love to find out more about John and his family in India!

The 1881 UK census has a John OBRIEN (b. 1858 India) at Brompton Barracks military school aged 23 in Gillingham, Kent. He was a Lance Corporal.
