Have you found the death registrations for James and Jane Forbes to check the informant please?

It may be worth following her half siblings forward as she may have been a witness (perhaps using a married surname) at one of the marriages/

At last have found and confirmed the Margaret Pirie on my tree. But need some help for more info please. Here are the details I have.

Margaret Jane Pirie, b 20 March 1869 at 3 Nelson Street, Aberdeen. Illigetimate to Jane Milne and Walter Pirie. Jane later marries James Forbes. Found Margaret (or Maggie) in 1871 census and 1881 census she is with mother and stepfather in Potterton, Aberdeenshire.
Nothing thereafter! She was a domestic servant on her son's birth cert., and she would have been only 17 years old. Her son is then brought up by another branch of the Forbes family.
I would like to find her on census, or marriage or death..... have looked extensively but many hands and new eyes may help...

must get back to Specsavers - read it as Pine!!

I now almost everything about Alexander, it's just that I can't find info to clarify EXACTLY which Margaret (Maggie) Pirie is his mother...... hundreds of them up here. It does seem he was raised by the Forbes family and the weird/funny thing is I have found a Maggie/Margaret Pirie brought with another Forbes family a generation earlier!! Is it her??? I'm trying to establish a link between the 2 Forbes families involved.... but it is a bottomless pit at the moment. :-0 Drowning under paperwork and info about them.... but no link yet.
I have plenty of experience (7 years) of researching my tree and left it for a while on this part of tree... luckily have found some new info available but still not a Eureka moment as yet.

Can we assume you have all the census info about him?

I have his birth cert. Born 13 Mar 1887 mother's name (signed) Maggie Pirie. From the age of 1yr he is with the Forbes family. The Middlemuire, Belhelvie is weird as I have a marriage there for George Forbes and Catherine Mackie just after Alexander's birth. Can't make sense of all the info I have.... will have to go through it all again along with the messages you've given me.

How do you know that he was born in Belhelvie if you don't know his mother's name then I would assume that you don't have either a birth certificate or christening record for him?

When and where did he marry please? If he married in Scotland after 1855 then the names of both his parents will be on the marriage certificate if he knew the details.

You must have more information that you have given here. If you want help you need to disclose all the information that you have.

Given the area that you are searching, personally I just hope he doesn't turn out to be another illegitimate child of my OHs Great Grandmother lol. She had seven that we know of with 4 different fathers! Two of her children were raised by the paternal grandparents. Some of the births were recorded only in her maiden surname (although a couple have an RCE added to the registration stating the paternity of the child) and three of the births were registered by her and the father.

I am searching for my Great Grandmother. Her son was born illigitemate in Belhelvie. He was brought up by Forbes family, can't narrow down who his mother is. He is Alexander Pirie but there seems to be Forbes, Mackie, Milne and Pirie names involved. Would anyone have the slightest knowledge of either these names and Belhelvie area.
