Could anybody give me any clues as to where i could find records for an inmate that died in Rampton in 1917,do i have to get in touch with Kew to view these or the hospital ? any views! |

The records seem to be split between Nottinghamshire Archives and Berkshire Record Office. |

Ann, As far as i no the hospital is and always was a prison hospital for criminals with mental disorders it could also be worth searching the national archives for possible criminal records |

I worked at our local psychiatric hospital for thirty years - the hospital is about 100 years old and has records back to the opening |

I could not see your men on the list but that does not mean that the records are not their, it may be worth contacting Sheffield archives just in-case, Not sure what restrictions apply? but as your men are deceased they may allow access |
