Hi Everyone,
I have very little to go on here. All I have is Elizabeth MULLAN born circa 1904 County Tyrone, Northern Ireland.
It is thought she and husband Andrew Edward PATTERSON married circa 1940. I have no date of death or where she was buried.

Info on Andrew 14 Aug 1902 in Rathfraggan, Seskinore, County Tyrone NI. Died 17 Nov 1955 Fintona, County Tyrone NI and buried at the Fintona Presbyterian Church, Fintona, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. I have a photograph of the gravestone ..... No Elizabeth mentioned.

Any help with Jenny would be appreciated.

Best Wishes,
Derek

That is an assumption I'm afraid based on that near all the PATTERSONs came from County Tyrone NI. Another researcher seems to think the surname could be mispelt MULLIN.

I suspect there are a few possibilities. Just posting this as a possible:

Name JANE MULLIN

Sex N/R
Mother's Birth Surname NIXON
----------------------------

The mother of the above Jane died in 1908. This is Charles in 1911- but Jane isn't with him (and I don't see a death for her between 1904 & 1911):

There was also a child, Patrick that died 1901, and a daughter, Rose that died 1908.

Is Jenny mentioned on Andrew's death cert?

Derek

Derek Report 29 Dec 2017 16:46

There is a headstone in Fintona Pres Church which states Andrew PATTERSON died 17th November 1955. His age and any details I give come from family hand me down info. I was told he married Jenny MULLEN (Could be Jennie, Jenny MULLEN, MULLIN. If MULLIN could be RC. PATTERSONS tend to be Prodestant).
It is said they had children Tilly, Louella, Layla, Ethel, Fred, John & Crawford. I have absolutely nothing on the children.

Andrew crossed pond to USA several times, sometimes with his brother James Beattie PATTERSON.

In the New Year I will try and get his death certificate and his marriage certificate.

AustinQ

AustinQ Report 29 Dec 2017 17:47

Your opening post gives a death year of 1966- you last post says 1955. I'm not seeing a death for 1955. Is it possible he died elsewhere and was brought to Ireland for burial?

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 29 Dec 2017 18:13

When posting the travel records, I did wonder if perhaps he had married in the USA - though there don't seem to be records of him after 1936, and no sign of the marriage.

Louella sounds American - but maybe Andrew was just influenced by his time there.

Date of death definitely 17th November 1955. My original post was wrong. I have altered that - Sorry!

Only his name on headstone. One wonders if his wife could not be buried there if she was RC?

Derek

Derek Report 29 Dec 2017 18:56

Interesting they married twice. Was this because he was Prodestant and she Roman Catholic one wonders ......

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 29 Dec 2017 19:15

A registry office marriage would not be recognised by the Roman Catholic Church, and therefore they would have to do it again in church.

Nyx- did they have the full details of the marriage with father's name to confirm the 1911 birth of Elizabeth Mullan was correct?

I don't have enough credits for NIdirect to see all the details but the ages on the registry office marriage for Elizabeth Jane was 22.

Bearing in mind spelling differences there are a couple of possibles for the birth of Elizabeth.

On his death, Andrew was listed as married.
